The boats will be launched from the Quad City Rowing Club's Boathouse at the foot of 17th Street (next to Stoney Creek Inn) and row up to the Captain's Table resturant where the race starts.  From there, they will race to down the Mississippi along the Ben Butterworth Parkway, through the I-74 bridge and finish at the Rodman bridge to the Arsenal (by the  iWireless Center).

There's great viewing at the Boathouse, where there will be a lot of activity, and along Ben Butterworth Parkway.

Corporate Row Challenge Race - August 1st

posted Aug 1, 2009 11:26 AM by QCRA Rowing   [ updated Aug 3, 2009 7:33 AM ]

On Saturday, the four crews who have been training for two weeks competed in the Corporate Row Challenge Race and what fun it was!

The crews were from Two Rivers Y in a "4", Crawford Company and Group O in "8"s and John Deere in a "4'.

Coach Marshall got everyone out on the water and the two "8"s lined up at the starting line upstream of the I-74 bridge.  When Coach Marshall said "Attention... Row" away they went downstream toward the finish line at the Government Bridge.  Their friends and families got to watch a great race as the two boats were very well matched with the Crawford Company inching out a win as they finished at the Government Bridge.  Next up were the two "4"s and again, with Marshall's "Attention.... Row", they took off down stream like they had been rowing together for years!  The John Deere boat rowed under the Government Bridge first and the "Y" was close behind.

Then Crawford in their "8" and John Deere in their ”4" squared off for the Championship race and again, the race with close with Crawford hearing the finishing horn first.

It was a great day and everyone seemed to enjoy getting out on the water for a little competition and using their newly acquired rowing skills.

The QCRA wants to thank the companies whose employees were in the crews, and all the QCRA members who volunteered their time to cox, row, and for "being there" for Corporate Row 2009.
